Mixing Wood Tones Without Clashing
By Silk Haven Studio · November 8, 2025
Oak, walnut, and painted finishes can share a room when you repeat undertones thoughtfully.
Matching every wood finish is outdated. Mixing looks richer when undertones agree: warm with warm, cool with cool.
Use the largest piece as your anchor, often the dining table or flooring. Then introduce a secondary tone in chairs or a sideboard.
A third finish can appear in small doses, like a tray or picture frame. Rugs and textiles bridge the gap between woods.
Walk our showroom floor in Ridgeland to see oak, walnut, and painted pieces styled side by side before you buy.
